cPanel Price Increases
As you may have heard, cPanel recently announced a new pricing structure which will heavily affect the hosting industry. The price changes come into affect on the 1st of September 2019 so we haven’t been provided with much time to plan but our team are focused on this as a top priority.
The new tier that would cover most companies requirements is now the ‘Premier’ license which the equivalent of the original pricing tier of $20 USD if brought through cPanel directly and without discounts. This covered an unlimited number of hosting accounts (individual cPanel accounts) to be hosted on a server. The new ‘Premier’ tier is $45 per month, an increase of $25 (based on no discounts or bulk licences purchases) and comes with a cPanel account limit of 100 accounts. If a server hosts more than 100 cPanel accounts which is getting more and more common these days due to better hardware, there will be an extra charge of $0.20 per month, per account. This works out at an extra $20 per 100 cPanel accounts.

What happens next
The price increase does affect a number of our services and offerings which we are doing our best to minimise the impact to our customers. If cPanel provides a better pricing solution such as no “cPanel Account Limit” (Unlimited Accounts) but an increased fixed monthly fee then this will result in different plans on our end.
Below are the current plans based on cPanel going through with the price changes.
£1 For Life Shared Hosting
The new pricing heavily affects our ‘£1 For Life’ shared hosting packages, as cPanel now forces us to continually charge customers for their hosting. We have temporary stopped the sale of this service while we plan our new ‘For Life’ offering.
We have always aimed to provide a style of free hosting (even with a small fee for customer verification) to allow anyone to get online with their very own website and we won’t be giving up on that goal.
The current plans are leaning towards a Direct Admin control panel hosting service. As well as a free package we will also provide one paid (more maybe added later) for customers to upgrade to instead of having to swap too cPanel. Direct Admin is a well known control panel and used by a large number of web hosts. It has a large feature set which we are excited to test out.
WHM & Global Reseller Hosting
Reseller hosting accounts will have limit changes and we will no longer be able to provide any unlimited reseller account limit packages. Price changes are currently being looked at but we hope to keep prices either the same or with a minimal increase.
VPS & Dedicated Servers
As we won’t be able to monitor, limit nor charge VPS and dedicated server customers with cPanel due to the $0.20 USD per account over 100, we will need our customers that wish to continue with cPanel to replace their Host Media provided licenses with their own license from cPanel or a partner. Some partners at the time of this post (for example buycPanel) are still offering the original pricing structure but please monitor the pricing as you can expect this to change (unless cPanel reverts its pricing changes).

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this will cause and we will do everything we can to limit the impact. Like many others in the industry we are pushing cPanel to reconsider their price changes or to provide alternative pricing.
